The Marula tree is a medium-sized dioecious tree, indigenous to the Miombo woodlands of Southern and West Africa. The Marula fruit is about the size of a plum, with bright yellow, leathery skin when ripe, and is popular with African elephants! The flavorful juicy white flesh of the fruit surrounds a hard brown stone, inside which are the seeds that are so rich in oil that even a tight squeeze with the hand can release a rich yield.

The raw materials for the oil are harvested and Cold-Pressed by community collectives of mostly women. When extracted, the deeply nourishing carrier oil appears as a pale-yellow, stratified semi-solid that melts upon immersion in warm bath water. Marula Hair & Body Oil has a mild scent characteristic of carriers that can subtly change based on the growing season and when the fruit was harvested.

Our organically crafted Marula Hair & Body Oil is extracted from the kernels of the fruits of the wild growing Sclerocarya Birrea trees found in the open woodlands of Sub-Saharan Africa. Marula Hair & Body Oil has long been revered for its diverse cosmetic applications to naturally soften, nourish and revitalise skin and promote hair growth.

Marula Hair & Body Oil is a light textured oil that is fast absorbing, nutritive, and soothing for all skin types. It contains powerful antioxidants that fight against environmental aggressors, reverses sun damage, and reduces the signs of aging. This is a great oil to use for moisturizing drier skin types that also tolerate coconut oil well but may clog pores for those with acne conditions, given its high comedogenic rating.

Marula Hair & Body Oil is known to repair skin damage caused by pollutants, reduce the appearance of wrinkles and blemishes and prevent skin from losing moisture. The oil also exhibits anti-microbial properties that limits bacterial and fungal growth.
