Our organically crafted Green Tea Body Oil is Cold-Pressed from the seeds of the flowering Camellia Japonica trees indigenous to Japan (known as “Tsubaki”), and a member of the tea family. The same species of plant is also grown in Korea, in similar climates, where the local name for it “Dongbaek”. Tsubaki or Dongbaek Oil has been a treasured beauty secret in far-eastern regions for its place in assisting its advocates to achieve an infamously flawless “porcelain” complexion.
Green Tea Body Oil is a very versatile oil that can be used on the face, hair, scalp and body. It is known for having a similar composition to sebum, the natural oil that is produced by our skin, deriving its remarkable ability to penetrate into the deepest layers of the Epidermis, delivering immense amounts of phytonutrients and hydration. Camellia Japonica Oil is a rich source of Oleic Acid (Omega-9), Polyphenols, Vitamins (A, C, D, and E), and other Anti-Oxidants giving it excellent moisturizing, protective and anti-aging properties for both skin and hair.
While the Camellia Japonica strain that we use is the most coveted of the Green Teas, other cosmetic manufacturers may use less expensive varieties like Camellia Sinensis (Chinese Green Tea), which is also known to share many of the wonderful restorative properties common to the Camellia family. Some varieties of the oil in the market may include tea leaves as well as the seeds in their extraction for a blended complexity profile. Interestingly, the Camellia Japonica is also the official state flower of Alabama and is known as the “Rose of Winter”! This amazing oil’s recent rise in popularity around the World is no surprise, really.
